Barista, Noor Lounge (Arabic Speaking)

About the role

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, a luxury oceanfront resort, is looking for an Arabic-speaking Barista to join its Noor Lounge team. The role covers preparing and serving coffee, tea and non-alcoholic drinks, maintaining drink standards, supporting the outlet manager and delivering excellent guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Explain the outlet's concept and food and beverage offerings to guests.
• Prepare creative non-alcoholic drinks, coffee, espresso, blended coffee and teas, garnish them to standard and explain their characteristics.
• Train colleagues on standards and policies and keep the Standard Drink Appearance file up to date.
• Recommend drinks to guests and handle verbal or written complaints, reporting to managers.
• Set up the bar counter, prepare mise en place and check daily inventory before each shift; assist with monthly inventories.
• Check fridge temperatures, follow first-in-first-out and date-labelling standards, and clean and deep-clean areas after each shift.
• Process food and beverage orders on the point of sale system, and carry out cashiering and cash and credit collections when requested.
• Help the Bar Supervisor and manager create new blended drinks for promotions and new menus.
• Delight guests and report their preferences to superiors, in line with the group's quality experience standards.

Required profile

• High school qualification or equivalent preferred; degree or higher national diploma in hospitality/hotel/business management preferred.
• 3 years' experience as a bartender in a high-end bar preferred; minimum 2 years in a luxury hotel or resort preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Ability to work long hours with a focus on operational excellence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of bar service procedures and standards, and of spirits and cigars.
• Restaurant point of sale and cashiering procedures preferred.
• Basic computer skills including MS Office preferred.
