Bell Attendant - Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah

About the role

The Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah is hiring a Bell Attendant. The role covers retrieving guest items, transporting luggage and packages, escorting guests to their rooms and answering guest queries, while keeping the lobby and equipment tidy.

Key responsibilities

• Retrieve guest items from cars, buses, vans and carts, and lift, carry and load luggage and packages onto a bell cart
• Navigate the trolley through public areas, guest room corridors and to elevators
• Escort guests to their rooms, inspect rooms visually and point out room features
• Answer guest inquiries about outlet hours, directions and hotel services, and refer guests to contact points for further information
• Organize and store luggage in the storage room, read and match luggage tags, write claim tickets and detach the portion given to the guest
• Clean and polish buggies, luggage trolleys and other department equipment
• Solve problems quickly and remain calm and attentive, especially during emergencies
• Supportive duties may include delivering newspapers, mail and packages to rooms, answering the bell desk phone, entering data accurately, liaising with Security, Housekeeping, Engineering, Accounting and Food & Beverage, reporting lobby maintenance to the Bell Captain/Front Office Manager, and assisting other departments when staff is limited
• If holding a valid UAE driving licence, assist with parking and possibly drive the hotel's limousine for guests of all Al Hamra companies, with management approval

Required profile

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to handle internal and external customers with patience, tact and diplomacy
• Ability to read English well enough to read luggage tags and claim checks and to write numbers and names on them
• Ability to lift, grasp and carry packages and luggage up to 50 lbs continuously throughout a shift
• Ability to stand, walk and sit, and to bend, stoop and kneel
