Buyer - Procurement

About the role

Viya, the UAE's leading golf and hospitality management group, is hiring a Buyer within its Procurement department in Abu Dhabi. The Buyer reports to the Manager - Procurement and is responsible for purchasing quality goods and services for the Club at the best possible price.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify Purchase Requests, Requests for Proposals and Requests for Information, ensuring specifications and approvals are in place.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers on price, quality, delivery lead time and compliance with specifications.
• Prepare price comparison sheets and negotiate, keeping the process transparent and aligned with procurement strategy.
• Liaise with departments to obtain approval on selected quotations and supplier proposals.
• Generate Purchase Orders through the ERP system or manually, then dispatch them to suppliers and confirm receipt.
• Follow up on open Purchase Orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve supplier issues.
• Submit quarterly reports on pending Purchase Orders and outstanding requests, and keep records of quotations, memos, correspondence and POs for audit readiness.
• Take part in continuous improvement initiatives and represent the department in committees such as the Staff Committee, Green Team, Food & Beverage Committee and Sports Committee.
• Undergo training for emergency roles such as Fire Marshal or First Aider.

Required profile

• Senior Secondary School Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor's degree.
• 2-3 years' experience in a similar position.
• Good knowledge of purchase operations.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems.
• Supplier evaluation and negotiation.
• Effective verbal and written communication, time management, recordkeeping and product specification research.
