Capacity Building Officer

About the role

The CGIAR Consortium for Red Palm Weevil Control (C4RPWC), led by ICARDA, coordinates capacity development across its program. The Capacity Building Officer reports to the C4RPWC Project Manager and coordinates the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and documentation of training and learning activities, working across technical workstreams and participating countries. The role also maintains a dotted-line technical link with ICARDA's Capacity Development and Training Team in Rabat.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the C4RPWC Capacity Development Plan and annual training calendar, and identify capacity gaps with workstream leads, country teams and national partners
• Organize Training-of-Trainers, technical training, Farmer Field Schools, Young Career Program, e-learning and training materials, and regional knowledge exchange
• Support experts in turning research outputs into training packages, manuals, facilitator guides, presentations and videos, and coordinate e-learning and CPD-accredited modules
• Monitor the Young Career Program and record young researchers, their supervisors, topics and outputs
• Maintain a capacity-development tracker and work with the MEL team to capture training indicators and results
• Prepare inputs for quarterly, biannual and annual reports on capacity development
• Document good practices and lessons learned, and keep a repository of curricula, manuals and evaluation records

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in agricultural sciences, agricultural extension, education, capacity development, international development or a related field; master's degree desirable
• At least 5 years of professional experience in capacity development, training, agricultural extension, learning and development or research-for-development programs
• Demonstrated experience designing and coordinating ToTs, technical training, workshops, Farmer Field Schools and e-learning
• Experience turning technical or scientific knowledge into practical learning materials for different audiences
