Card & Payment Operations Head

About the role

Envision Employment Solutions is recruiting a Card & Payment Operations Head for a leading digital bank. The role leads the operation behind every card issued, payment processed, remittance, settlement, dispute and chargeback, holding internal teams and vendors to the standard while keeping transactions aligned with card scheme rules and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee card operations, including card issuance, settlements, lifecycle management and customer request fulfilment
• Manage payment operations, including transaction processing, remittances, exception handling, reconciliation, settlements and payment recovery
• Supervise internal teams and vendors so they meet SLAs, procedures and quality standards
• Monitor performance, investigate root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with card scheme rules, payment network requirements, regulatory obligations and internal controls
• Review and approve escalated operational cases, including high-risk, fraud-related or customer-impacting incidents
• Coordinate with technology, fraud, compliance and external partners to resolve issues and support service delivery
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives and operational reporting
• Manage and develop the L1 Operations team

Required profile

• 12+ years in card and payment operations within a banking background
• Strong experience in payments, remittances and transfers
• Experience managing chargeback and dispute resolution processes
• Strong operational risk awareness and a control mindset

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of card scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard, EBC)
• Hands-on experience with settlements
• Familiarity with core banking and card management systems
