Charge Nurse – OPD Medical

About the role

The Charge Nurse – OPD Medical leads daily operations in the outpatient department, ensuring smooth patient flow and high‑quality care. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the role combines clinical expertise with administrative oversight to support a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate schedules, assignments and patient care activities to maintain efficient unit operations.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs in accordance with best practice standards.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient‑ and family‑centered care.
• Monitor staffing levels, skill mix and resource utilization to ensure a safe environment.
• Provide supervision, coaching and performance feedback to nursing and support staff.
• Administer medications and liaise with pharmacy services.
• Handle emergencies, referrals and discharge planning according to organizational policies.
• Facilitate effective communication between patients, families and healthcare providers.
• Prepare comprehensive handovers and clinical reports to ensure continuity of care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification with experience in outpatient or acute care settings.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare systems and patient acuity assessment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse, multidisciplinary workforce.
• Commitment to ethical conduct, patient safety and the organization’s mission and values.
