Chief Engineer – Hotel Operations

About the role

The Chief Engineer leads the Engineering department to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of all hotel facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. This senior position oversees preventive maintenance, energy management, regulatory compliance, and renovation projects while supporting the hotel's sustainability initiatives and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance operations across the hotel.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes to optimise asset performance.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, environmental and local regulatory requirements.
• Manage departmental budgets, maintenance contracts and capital‑expenditure projects.
• Oversee utilities, energy‑conservation and sustainability initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
• Coordinate renovations, repairs and engineering projects with minimal disruption to guests.
• Lead, coach and develop the engineering team to achieve high performance and service standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to support daily operations and enhance the guest experience.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 8–10 years of engineering experience in the hospitality industry, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, MEP, HVAC, fire and life‑safety systems, and hotel maintenance operations.
• Excellent leadership, project‑management, budgeting and communication skills.
• Familiarity with local regulations and sustainability best practices is an advantage.
