Classroom Assistant - Immediate Joining

About the role

Aldar Education is hiring a Classroom Assistant for Virginia American School in Abu Dhabi, starting in October 2026. The role supports pupils inside and outside the classroom so they can take part in school activities and look after their social, emotional and physical well-being. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Support individual pupils or groups inside and outside the classroom, and be proactive about health and safety
• Assist in implementing individual education programmes and monitor pupils' progress
• Support pupils with additional support needs, such as emotional and behavioural difficulties, and help develop their social skills
• Assist class teachers with pupil records, displays of pupils' work, photocopying and other teaching tasks
• Comply with health and safety, legislation and school policies, and set a good example in dress, punctuality and attendance
• Attend team and staff meetings as required and work with professionals such as speech and occupational therapists
• Academic assistance: give group or individual instruction, demonstrate activities, check and correct pupils' work, keep pupils on task, praise achievements and report progress to the teacher
• Reorganize materials at the end of the day, check attendance and supervise pupils in classrooms and other areas
• Help develop the behaviour policy, promote pupils' self-esteem and discipline misbehaviour in line with school policy

Required profile

• Minimum secondary school certificate
• At least two years of experience in a school setting
• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not the first language
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check; offers are subject to satisfactory references and police clearance
