Clinical Psychologist (Arabic Speaker)

About the role

NMC Healthcare is hiring a full-time Clinical Psychologist in Abu Dhabi. The psychologist takes part in the diagnosis and therapy of psychiatric illness, acts as a professional assistant to psychiatrists caring for inpatients and outpatients, and contributes to preventive care within an integrated programme of curative and preventive medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric interviews and collect data for diagnosis
• Provide individual, group and family psychotherapy, and couple counselling for marital conflicts
• Use behavioural methods for children and adults, planning the frequency, intensity and duration of therapy
• Perform psychometric testing for diagnosis and therapy evaluation
• Engage in research and education to improve care of emotionally disturbed patients, and keep up with developments in mental health
• Advise community organisations and take part in psychological and welfare activities
• Answer after-hours or weekend calls in emergencies as required
• Follow international guidelines, HAAD regulations and Joint Commission International norms, and comply with OSH and infection control policies
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures and attend OSH/infection control training

Required profile

• Valid DOH/DHA license as Clinical Psychologist to practice in the UAE
• Masters degree in clinical psychology from a recognised institution
• At least 2 years of experience in clinical psychology
• Current licensure in the country of origin and a HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi
• Native Arabic speaker with excellent command of oral and written English and Arabic
• Knowledge of medical ethics and confidentiality
