Cloud Architect

About the role

A technically advanced and strategic Cloud Architect is sought to design, develop and oversee secure, scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure. The role covers evaluating business and technical needs, setting cloud architecture standards and guiding the implementation of cloud platforms supporting application development, data management and enterprise operations. It works closely with software engineers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity specialists and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud architecture for business applications, enterprise systems and digital transformation initiatives.
• Evaluate infrastructure requirements and recommend services, platforms, deployment models and configurations.
• Build scalable, resilient environments on AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Set architecture principles, standards, governance frameworks and design guidelines.
• Design networking, storage, computing, database, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Ensure security best practices: identity and access management, encryption, network protection and data security.
• Assess existing IT infrastructure and plan migrations of applications, databases and workloads to the cloud.
• Support cloud-native apps, microservices, containerization and API integrations with engineering teams.
• Review architectures and configurations for performance, reliability and scalability.
• Implement monitoring, resource optimization and cost management; support DevOps, IaC and CI/CD.
• Identify technical risks and security vulnerabilities, and prepare architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
• Advise engineering teams and evaluate emerging cloud technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing, enterprise architecture, distributed systems and infrastructure design.
• Ability to evaluate infrastructure costs, performance, availability and scalability.
• Excellent technical documentation, communication and presentation skills.
• Collaboration with software development, cybersecurity, infrastructure and business teams.

Required skills

• Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
• Cloud networking, virtualization, storage, databases and server infrastructure.
• Cloud security, identity management, encryption and access controls.
• Docker, Kubernetes and microservices architecture.
• IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation (an advantage).
• DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation and monitoring.
