Combustion Design Senior Engineer

About the role

The Gas Turbine Combustor Engineer will design, analyse, develop and support combustor systems for micro‑jet engines, translating customer requirements into high‑performance, low‑emission solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define combustor requirements from engine cycle conditions, including thrust class, pressure loss, emissions and temperature constraints.
• Translate system requirements into a combustor concept, selecting architecture, fuel injection, dilution and cooling strategies.
• Perform preliminary sizing using 1‑D modelling, empirical correlations and trade studies to establish feasible geometry.
• Analyse flow, mixing, ignition, flame stability and heat loads, refining the design through successive stages.
• Support CFD, rig and engine testing, correlate results with analytical predictions and iterate the design.
• Collaborate with performance, aerodynamics, mechanical, materials and manufacturing teams to ensure integration.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Thermal Engineering or related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in gas turbine combustion, combustor design or propulsion system development.
• Proven ability to manage the full combustor design process from concept to verification.
• Strong technical communication skills for reports, design reviews and risk assessments.

• CFD analysis for combustion processes.
• CAD and engineering analysis tools for fluid dynamics, heat transfer and structural assessment.
• 1‑D and correlation‑based modelling for preliminary sizing.
• Experience with high‑precision hot‑section manufacturing and additive manufacturing.
• Test data interpretation and correlation with analytical results.
