Commis 1 – Pastry Team (Luxury Hotel)

About the role

As a Commis 1 at Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre, a Forbes Five‑Star luxury hotel, you will support the Pastry team in preparing and presenting high‑quality pastry products while contributing to exceptional culinary experiences. You will uphold the highest standards of quality, hygiene and presentation within a refined kitchen environment that reflects Waldorf Astoria’s commitment to luxury, precision and excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods and presentation standards.
• Prepare and maintain mise en place according to the section’s requirements.
• Assist the Chef de Partie and Executive Chef in the preparation and cooking of pastry dishes.
• Ensure the kitchen section is properly set up, organized and clean before service.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene, food safety and minimise waste through proper portion control.
• Attend daily briefings and stay informed about hotel events and operational updates.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a commis chef role, preferably in a luxury hotel or high‑quality dining environment.
• Positive attitude with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
• Very good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced culinary environment.
• Basic Food Hygiene certification or equivalent food safety training.
• Eagerness to learn, develop and build a career in the culinary and hospitality industry.
