Commis II – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

The Commis II supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, cooking and assembling dishes according to recipes and quality standards. The role involves handling fresh produce, operating kitchen equipment and maintaining a clean, safe work environment in a busy hotel setting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, chop, wash, peel and store fruits, vegetables and other ingredients.
• Weigh, measure, mix and cook food following recipes, presentation and food‑preparation checklists.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely and efficiently.
• Test cooked foods for doneness and monitor food quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions and maintain proper temperature control.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and hygiene policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of related kitchen or food‑preparation experience.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
• Willingness to follow company safety, security and uniform policies.
