Construction Logistics Officer

About the role

The Construction Logistics Officer manages and coordinates the organization, staffing and operational activities of district warehouses and stores. The role also covers coordination with outside agencies and keeping up with trends in warehousing and storage.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the organization, staffing and operations of district warehouses and stores.
• Take part in developing and implementing the organization's goals, objectives, policies and priorities.
• Direct and review the work plans of assigned staff.
• Apply safety guidelines and investigate injuries or unsafe conditions.
• Monitor material usage in storerooms and warehouses and help design facility layouts for maximum storage efficiency.
• Develop delivery schedules and drop shipment strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory usage and meet with staff to resolve problems.
• Select, train, motivate and evaluate personnel, and handle discipline and termination procedures.
• Prepare staff reports and correspondence, and coordinate warehousing activities with outside agencies.
• Identify new trends and innovations in warehousing and storage.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in supply chain management, business or industrial engineering.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in the construction industry.

Required skills

• Good decision-making skills, weighing costs and benefits of possible actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to negotiate with carriers, suppliers, customs brokers and customers.
• Ability to identify performance indicators and solve complex problems using logic and reasoning.
