Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon – Advanced Heart & Lung Surgery

About the role

A prestigious tertiary‑care hospital in Abu Dhabi is expanding its Cardiothoracic Surgery Programme. The centre of excellence integrates cardiology, cardiac surgery, pulmonology, anaesthesia and intensive care to deliver world‑class outcomes for complex cardiovascular and thoracic conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cardiac procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and valve repair/replacement.
• Conduct thoracic surgeries including lung resections, mediastinal operations and treatment of thoracic malignancies.
• Utilise minimally invasive and robotic‑assisted techniques where appropriate.
• Lead pre‑operative evaluation, surgical planning and post‑operative care coordination with ICU teams.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, pulmonologists, anaesthesiologists and intensivists in multidisciplinary case reviews.
• Manage emergency cardiac and thoracic cases, including acute trauma.
• Interpret advanced imaging (echocardiography, CT, cardiac catheterisation) to guide surgical decisions.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, surgical safety and clinical governance standards.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or specialist qualification in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Minimum 3 + years post‑certification experience in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures.
• Proven ability to work in a high‑volume, multidisciplinary tertiary hospital.
• Commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence and continuous learning.
