Consultant – Critical Care Medicine (Cardiac, Neurocritical & Trauma)

About the role

The Consultant Physician holds a senior position responsible for delivering exemplary, comprehensive, and evidence‑based care within the critical care specialty. This role provides leadership in clinical governance, supervises and trains junior medical staff, and actively participates in quality‑improvement initiatives across inpatient and outpatient services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for cardiac, neurocritical and trauma patients.
• Conduct patient examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments, and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Oversee clinical activities of junior staff, providing instruction, guidance and supervision.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and collaborate with other specialties to ensure holistic patient management.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately, comply with hospital, departmental and DOH policies, and engage in clinical audits and risk‑management activities.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with a recognized specialty training program (Board Certification, Fellowship of a Royal College, or equivalent from a DOH‑approved Tier 1/2 country).
• Post‑specialty clinical experience of 3‑7 years in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for, or possession of, a valid DOH licence to practice in Abu Dhabi, including required primary source verification and exam.
• Fluency in English and Arabic; additional languages are an asset.
• Strong communication, leadership, problem‑solving abilities and commitment to continuous medical education (CME/CPD).
