Consultant Critical Care Medicine

About the role

The Consultant Critical Care Medicine will provide expert clinical care to critically ill patients within a tertiary hospital setting. This senior physician will also support the Division Chief in managing staff, resources, and performance initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients in the ICU according to best‑practice standards.
• Oversee junior medical staff, ensuring safe and high‑quality patient care.
• Lead ward rounds, document clinical information promptly, and adjust treatment based on investigation results.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and coordinate referrals from emergency, primary care, and other specialties.
• Support and implement hospital, departmental, and divisional policies and initiatives.
• Assist with performance management, peer review, productivity and utilization reviews.
• Help schedule medical coverage and recruit new medical staff as needed.
• Ensure compliance with SEHA facility policies, licensing, certification, and mandatory CME requirements.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Critical Care/ICU.
• Board certification (American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, or equivalent Western board) and current national medical license.
• Minimum five years of post‑specialization experience in Critical Care.
• Proof of yearly CME and compliance with Tier 1 or Tier 2 SEHA qualifications.
