Consultant Neurologist – Stroke Specialist

About the role

The Neurology Department in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Consultant Neurologist with a focus on Stroke Medicine. The role involves delivering expert diagnosis, acute and chronic cerebrovascular care, and contributing to a comprehensive stroke service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level care for acute and chronic cerebrovascular disorders, including ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, TIA, and cerebral venous thrombosis.
• Assess patients for intravenous thrombolysis and coordinate mechanical thrombectomy with neurointerventional teams.
• Lead post‑stroke management, secondary prevention, and long‑term vascular risk reduction.
• Interpret CT, CTA, MRI, and MRA imaging and participate in stroke unit/ICU rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Supervise residents, fellows, and junior physicians and engage in clinical research and teaching.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized school and Board‑certified Neurology qualification.
• Valid Department of Health Abu Dhabi Consultant licence.
• Significant post‑specialist experience as a Consultant Neurologist with proven acute stroke management.
• Fellowship or advanced training in Stroke Medicine/Vascular Neurology is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Thrombolysis administration and mechanical thrombectomy pathway experience.
• Advanced neuroimaging interpretation (CT, CTA, MRI, MRA).
• Experience with telestroke and hyperacute stroke pathways.
• Strong multidisciplinary collaboration and rapid, evidence‑based decision‑making.
