Consultant Palliative Care (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified and compassionate Consultant in Palliative Care to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive palliative and supportive care to patients with life‑limiting illnesses, enhancing quality of life and providing psychosocial support to patients and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients requiring palliative and end‑of‑life care.
• Develop individualized treatment and symptom‑management plans for advanced or chronic illnesses.
• Provide expert consultation for pain management and complex symptom control.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including oncology, internal medicine, critical care, nursing, psychology, social work and rehabilitation.
• Conduct family meetings, facilitate goals‑of‑care discussions, advance care planning and end‑of‑life decision‑making.
• Ensure continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient, home‑care and hospice settings.
• Participate in development and implementation of palliative‑care policies, clinical pathways and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Provide teaching, mentorship and CME activities for physicians, residents, nurses and allied health professionals.
• Engage in clinical research, audits and evidence‑based practice projects.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Accredited specialty training in Palliative Medicine or related field with fellowship/sub‑specialty certification.
• Board certification recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑board experience in palliative or end‑of‑life care.
