Consultant - General Surgery/Vascular

About the role

The incumbent is a Vascular Surgeon who provides consulting, operative (major as well as minor/elective as well as emergency) and attending services to patients of any age group, including diagnosis, pre‑ and post‑operative care of all operative cases and procedures in the field of vascular and trauma surgery. The role involves managing ambulatory and hospitalized surgical patients of varying complexity, ensuring compliance with medical, ethical and legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provides consulting, operative, and attending services for vascular and trauma surgery cases, including major, minor, elective, and emergency procedures.
• Manages pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients of all ages.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic laboratory studies and imaging examinations, determining appropriate therapy.
• Collaborates with anesthesiologists on anesthesia choices and with other physicians for multidisciplinary care.
• Participates in quality assurance activities such as morbidity and mortality reviews, peer reviews, and departmental KPI development.
• Contributes to in‑service training, lectures, conferences, and staff meetings.
• Ensures adherence to hospital regulations, infection control, patient safety, HAAD, JCI, and ISO standards.

Required profile

• Graduation from an approved medical school with internship.
• Minimum three‑year residency in Vascular Surgery leading to a postgraduate master’s degree or equivalent fellowship approved by HAAD.
• HAAD license to practice.
• At least three years exclusive practice of Vascular Surgery since certification.
• Proficiency in English for documentation and communication; basic medical Arabic desirable.
• Thorough knowledge of medical ethics.
