Consultant Pediatric Intensive Care Physician – Oman

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care to join a leading tertiary hospital in Oman. The successful candidate will deliver expert critical care to infants, children and adolescents with life‑threatening conditions, lead multidisciplinary teams and uphold the highest standards of patient‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
• Diagnose, evaluate and manage complex medical, surgical, neurological, respiratory and infectious conditions.
• Perform advanced pediatric resuscitation, stabilization and emergency procedures.
• Manage mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, vasoactive medications and other critical‑care therapies.
• Carry out PICU procedures such as endotracheal intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, chest tube insertion and procedural sedation.
• Collaborate with pediatric specialists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and allied health professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop individualized treatment plans and communicate effectively with families.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to quality‑improvement, morbidity‑mortality meetings and CME activities.
• Provide on‑call coverage and emergency critical‑care support as required.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• MD, DNB, Arab Board, MRCPCH, Fellowship in Pediatric Intensive Care or equivalent qualification.
• Valid Oman Ministry of Health license (or eligibility).
• 5‑8 years of post‑specialization experience in Pediatric Intensive Care, preferably in a tertiary‑care setting.
• Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
