Consultant Pediatric Ophthalmology

About the role

Danat Al Emarat Hospital for Women & Children is seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with strong pediatric ophthalmology expertise and proven capability in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening to join its Women and Children’s Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert ophthalmic evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric and adult patients.
• Perform ROP screening for premature infants and collaborate with NICU teams for early intervention.
• Manage pediatric ophthalmic conditions including refractive errors, strabismus, congenital eye diseases, and other visual disorders.
• Support outpatient clinics and participate in multidisciplinary pediatric case discussions.
• Provide surgical and non‑surgical ophthalmic care in line with consultant‑level practice standards.
• Ensure detailed, accurate clinical documentation and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Tier 1 Consultant qualification (e.g., CCT or equivalent) in Ophthalmology.
• Demonstrated experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology (mandatory).
• Proven experience in ROP screening and management.
• Strong clinical background in both medical and surgical ophthalmology.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient‑centered care skills.
• Eligibility for DOH Consultant Ophthalmologist licensure.
