Consultant Pediatric Surgeon – Urology Expertise

About the role

The Consultant Pediatric Surgeon will deliver advanced surgical care for infants, children and adolescents at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City. The role focuses on operative management of congenital, developmental, traumatic and oncologic conditions while upholding SEHA’s family‑centered standards.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose and surgically treat pediatric conditions including neonatal anomalies, gastrointestinal, urologic, thoracic pathologies and tumors.
• Perform elective and emergency pediatric surgeries, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures.
• Oversee pre‑operative and post‑operative care, ensuring safe recovery and follow‑up.
• Provide surgical consultations to pediatricians, neonatologists, emergency physicians and other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning within NICU, PICU and the emergency department.
• Educate families on diagnoses, surgical options, risks and recovery plans.
• Document all clinical interactions using SEHA’s electronic medical record system.
• Supervise and mentor residents, junior doctors and surgical staff.
• Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement projects, research and morbidity/mortality reviews.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Pediatric Surgery.
• Board certification in Pediatric Surgery (e.g., American Board, FRCS‑Ped or equivalent).
• Valid DOH Consultant License in Pediatric Surgery or eligibility to obtain it.
• Minimum five years of post‑specialty certification experience as a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon.
