Consultant Physician - Endocrinology

About the role

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City is hiring a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology in Abu Dhabi. The Consultant Physician leads and supervises the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care, diagnoses, manages and treats patients under their care, and provides leadership and training for junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients according to best-practice standards, including ward rounds, reviewing investigations and modifying treatment
• Oversee the clinical work of junior medical staff and accept clinically appropriate referrals
• Take part in multidisciplinary meetings, ensure informed consent and prepare patients for procedures
• Provide on-call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays
• Lead quality improvement, support audit and encourage reporting of untoward incidents
• Train and supervise junior staff, promote clinical research and publication, and commit to continued medical education
• Follow hospital policies, complete licensure and certification requirements, and maintain confidentiality

Required profile

• Tier 1: at least 2 years of relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent after board certification
• Tier 2: at least 8 years of full-time employment as a consultant or equivalent after board certification, including fellowship training in an internationally accredited institute
• For UAE nationals, each year of clinical fellowship in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, the USA or an HAAD-accredited programme counts as two years of experience
• Current national license or equivalent and certified proof of yearly CME
