COO - Metallurgy Division (Middle East)

About the role

A rapidly growing international industrial and mining conglomerate with a portfolio in metals, mining and renewable energy is looking for a business-oriented COO for its metallurgy division. The role leads operational excellence, business development and strategic acquisitions across continents, based in the Middle East, and oversees the operational aspects of multiple metallurgical plants worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Operational leadership: manage metallurgical plants across continents, ensure cost efficiency, safety compliance and adherence to environmental, health and safety standards
• Implement and monitor operational KPIs, performance metrics and continuous improvement programs; optimize production, energy use and resource allocation
• Lead strategic planning for the metallurgy division and identify, evaluate and execute new business opportunities, joint ventures and acquisitions in metals and mining
• Foster partnerships with global stakeholders, suppliers and customers, and strengthen supply chain and vertically integrated operations
• Build and lead a global operations and business development team, and collaborate with finance, logistics and corporate development

Required profile

• 15+ years in senior operational roles in metallurgy, mining or heavy industry
• Proven track record in business development, M&A and international project execution
• Experience managing multi-site, multi-country operations across continents
• Advanced degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mining, Industrial Engineering and an MBA preferred
• Willingness to travel extensively internationally
