About the role

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) seeks a visionary academic leader to serve as Dean of the College of Media and Mass Communication (CMMC). The Dean will guide the college’s strategic growth, research excellence, and industry engagement while ensuring high‑quality teaching and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership aligned with national, regional and global media trends.
• Oversee curriculum development, academic standards and program quality to meet international benchmarks.
• Recruit, mentor and evaluate faculty, fostering scholarly productivity and professional development.
• Promote a strong research culture, supporting interdisciplinary projects and external funding acquisition.
• Strengthen student success through enhanced internship programs, experiential learning and career readiness initiatives.
• Build and sustain partnerships with media organisations, government agencies and international institutions.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Media Studies, Mass Communication, Journalism, Digital Media, Strategic Communication or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years senior academic leadership experience (Associate Dean or higher) at an accredited university.
• Distinguished record of teaching, research and scholarly publications in media and communication disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development, quality assurance and accreditation processes.
• Strong professional networks with media organisations, government entities and industry partners.
