Design Technology and BTEC Engineering Teacher

About the role

GEMS Metropole School – Al Waha, a British curriculum school in the Al Waha community of Dubai, is looking to appoint a Design Technology (DT) and BTEC Engineering Teacher starting in August 2027. The school opened in 2023, teaches students from FS1 to Year 11 and will open its Sixth Form in August 2027. The role is described as a BTEC Hospitality Teacher who will help students develop practical vocational skills and prepare for careers in the hospitality industry.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Design and Technology, Engineering or a related subject, together with a recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge and experience teaching Design and Technology and/or Engineering at secondary level, including delivering BTEC Engineering qualifications.
• Knowledge of BTEC assessment requirements, including assignment setting, internal assessment, feedback and student progress tracking.
• Experience using specialist workshop equipment and teaching relevant health and safety procedures.
• Willingness to take part in enrichment activities, extracurricular programmes and community engagement.

• Ability to deliver engaging, practical lessons that develop students' design, technical, problem-solving and engineering skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
• Ability to inspire and challenge students of all abilities through hands-on learning.
