Director of Information Technology – Healthcare

About the role

The leading group of hospitals and clinics in Abu Dhabi is seeking a strategic Director of Information Technology to steer its technology function and drive digital innovation across clinical and corporate operations. This senior role will shape the IT vision, ensure robust infrastructure, and enhance patient experience through technology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an IT strategy aligned with business objectives and lead digital transformation initiatives.
• Oversee IT infrastructure, networks, cloud services, and end‑user support, ensuring availability, performance, scalability and security.
• Lead implementation, optimisation and integration of Hospital Information Systems, EMR/EHR, ERP platforms and clinical applications.
• Establish IT governance, policies, cybersecurity frameworks and disaster recovery plans while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts and service delivery standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing IT team and manage budgets, technology investments and resource planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 12–15 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in a hospital, healthcare or highly regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of healthcare applications, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, cloud technologies and enterprise architecture.
• Relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, CISM, COBIT and cloud certifications (Microsoft Azure, AWS).
