Director, Student Counseling Center

About the role

The Director of the Student Counseling Center will lead the counseling, health clinic, and wellness services across Zayed University's Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses. Reporting to the Assistant Provost of Student Affairs, the role provides strategic direction, oversees daily operations, and ensures high‑quality, culturally‑sensitive mental‑health services for students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update job descriptions, assign duties, and support professional development of staff.
• Oversee delivery of empirically‑validated counseling services and ensure compliance with ethical standards.
• Collaborate with campus units to assess and respond to student mental‑health needs.
• Lead research initiatives to evaluate student well‑being and inform service improvements.
• Manage crisis‑response systems, community referrals, and outreach programs.
• Provide clinical supervision to counselors and supervise administrative functions.
• Ensure high‑quality medical services are available at health clinics.
• Handle budgeting, staffing, record‑keeping, policy development, and quality‑assurance practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher‑education settings.
• Relevant licensure or ability to obtain a UAE counseling license.
• Fluency in Arabic and English preferred, with strong awareness of UAE culture.
• Demonstrated experience in higher‑education counseling, educational testing, and assessment.
