Engineering Manager, Automation Intelligence

About the role

A partner company is hiring an Engineering Manager, Automation Intelligence, based in the United Arab Emirates. The role leads the development of an intelligence platform that distinguishes legitimate AI agents and automated traffic from malicious bots and other online threats. You will manage a high-impact engineering team delivering detection capabilities, classification systems and APIs, and guide the product from beta through general availability and commercial launch. The position is fully remote.

Key responsibilities

• Own the engineering roadmap from beta through general availability and commercial launch, working with product management on requirements, estimates, prioritization and launch-readiness criteria.
• Define and validate operational limits such as throughput, latency, rate limiting, availability targets and SLOs.
• Build a continuous detection quality framework with test datasets, automated false-positive and false-negative testing, regression suites and monitoring.
• Guide detection for AI agents, assistants, stealth automation and headless browsers, and evolve classification systems with confidence levels, identity verification status and reason codes.
• Manage staged rollouts using feature flags and rollback procedures, and incorporate customer feedback into engineering improvements.
• Lead, coach and grow a small team of senior engineers, manage recruitment and set clear ownership and accountability.
• Introduce engineering practices such as technical specifications, code review standards, repository ownership and performance benchmarks.
• Establish working agreements with adjacent teams and reduce dependencies so they can deploy independently.
• Lead an agent-first workflow supported by AI tools for specification, coding, review and security checks, with human oversight on critical changes.
• Ensure APIs follow a contract-first approach with OpenAPI specs, automated breaking-change detection, generated documentation and SDKs.
• Own service observability through logs, metrics, traces and SLOs, and communicate progress and trade-offs to leadership and product partners.

Required profile

• At least three years of experience managing software engineers, ideally including senior and staff-level contributors, with a track record of delivering complete products through launch.
• At least eight years of software engineering experience before or alongside management, with strong technical judgment.
• Experience in bot detection or management, fraud and abuse prevention, web security, browser or client-side engineering, or high-volume API services.
• Experience building measurement-driven engineering processes and hands-on use of AI coding agents.
• Ability to collaborate with product managers, researchers and customer-facing teams, and to build autonomous, high-performing engineering teams.

Preferred experience

• Bot detection, anti-automation products, CDNs, WAFs, fraud prevention or security platforms.
• Familiarity with AI agent ecosystems, agent frameworks and verified-agent protocols.
• Understanding of headless browsers, automation frameworks and API-first products with SDKs.
• Experience founding a new engineering team within an existing organization, and a background in a high-growth SaaS company serving enterprise customers.
