Environmental & Employee Health and Safety Specialist

About the role

Hitachi Energy seeks an Emirati professional to develop, implement and maintain comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs across its operations in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on improving HSE performance, fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the Project HSE Plan and Emergency Preparedness Plan.
• Conduct HSE drills, inspections, audits and periodic reviews of risk assessments, method statements and subcontractor HSE plans.
• Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions and report HSE statistics.
• Support project teams with HSE meetings, life‑saving rules assessments and operational risk management.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience as an HSE Advisor in a high‑risk industry, preferably substation EPC.
• UAE national with a degree or diploma in engineering or science and professional HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC).
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes of practice, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.

Required skills

• NEBOSH (or equivalent) certification.
• Implementation of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel and SharePoint.
