Faculty - Civil Engineering

About the role

Higher Colleges of Technology is hiring a full-time faculty member for the Civil Engineering programme. The post provides instruction to second-language learners in a student-centred environment and requires active participation in college and community academic and extracurricular events. Full-time faculty work about 36.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Teach courses using a practical, applied approach aligned with the syllabus and programme goals, adapting to a second-language learning environment and giving continuous feedback through tests, projects and assignments.
• Evaluate students, update grades on time, contribute to question banks and assessments, and prepare electronic Course Assessment Files and reports.
• Serve as student advisor, recommend at-risk action plans, mentor students during internships and work placements, and hold regular office hours.
• Conduct applied research, attend conferences, mentor student research, and serve on faculty, programme, campus and system-wide committees.
• Maintain teaching facilities, handle course management, revise courses and curricula, and invigilate assessments.
• Coach and mentor subordinates, help recruit and develop UAE Nationals, and promote organisational resilience.

Required profile

• A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, or a Master's degree with a professional certification and 5 years of teaching and industry experience.
• A Bachelor's degree may be considered with extensive industry experience and certification.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience in the discipline; 3 years of relevant industry experience is preferred.
• Experience developing curriculum to accreditation and international standards, and using educational technology in teaching.
