Finance Manager - Oil Trading

About the role

The Finance Manager leads the Finance & Accounting function supporting the Oil Trading business, delivering accurate trade finance, risk and management reporting. The role covers financial control, working capital and treasury across physical and paper oil trading operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present financial statements for trading entities in line with GAAP/IFRS and regulatory requirements
• Manage trade finance instruments (letters of credit, documentary collections, guarantees) and liaise with banks and trade finance providers
• Monitor mark-to-market positions, hedging activity and commodity price risk with the trading and risk desks
• Manage cash flow, liquidity and working capital, including cargo financing, demurrage and freight settlements
• Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with CBCR, ESR and UBO declaration requirements
• Supervise tax, VAT/WHT, customs duties and related refunds and claims
• Review trade settlements, invoicing and reconciliation of physical cargo and derivatives positions
• Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals and build relationships with traders, executives, investors, auditors, brokers and regulators
• Support ad-hoc projects, new trade structures and market entry initiatives

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
• MBA, CMA, CFA or ACA/ACCA/CPA highly preferred
• 12+ years of finance experience, with a significant part in oil/commodity trading, energy or a related trading environment
• In-depth knowledge of physical and paper oil trading, trade finance instruments and commodity risk management
• Experience with letters of credit, hedging/derivatives accounting and multi-jurisdictional entities

Required skills

• Advanced Excel; CTRM systems (Eka, Aspect, ComTrak, Amphora) and SAP preferred
• Hands-on SAP S/4HANA (FI/CO, GL, A/P, A/R, bank accounting, month-end close, reporting)
• Analytical skills to interpret MTM and P&L data
