Financial Accountant - Legal Sector

About the role

Gateworth is recruiting, on behalf of a client in the legal sector, an experienced Financial Accountant for a full-time, on-site position in Dubai. The accountant reports to the Director of Financial Operations and ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting and compliance with accounting standards and regulations, with exposure to day-to-day accounting, month-end close, budgeting, cash flow management and audit support.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger reconciliations, and prepare monthly management accounts and related financial and MIS reporting.
• Manage cash flow through cash flow statements, assist with annual budgets and forecasts, and provide ad hoc financial analysis.
• Process monthly payroll, including staff expense reimbursements and claims, and support timekeeper set-ups and pricing.
• Liaise with external auditors on audit and tax compliance, ensure adherence to local regulations and standards, and improve internal controls and processes.

Required profile

• University graduate or post-graduate degree in accounting or finance, with an internationally recognised professional accountancy qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
• Accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment, with knowledge of legal and trust accounting, SRA Regulations and applied IFRS, and exposure to time-based billing systems.
• Knowledge of VAT and other tax regulations across the GCC.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, planning and organisational skills, and the discipline to meet month-end and year-end deadlines.
