Flight Operations Safety Specialist

About the role

The Flight Operations Safety Specialist will interpret Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and operational safety data to identify hazards, assess risks, and support proactive safety management across the Air Arabia Group. This role combines analytical expertise with crew engagement to continuously improve flight safety and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational interpretation of FDM exceedances, trends, SOP application, and aircraft handling characteristics.
• Monitor and analyse safety data to detect operational trends, recurring exceedances, emerging threats, and hazards.
• Conduct operational risk assessments, evaluate existing controls, and recommend additional mitigations.
• Review, assess, and close safety reports submitted by flight crew in line with Just Culture principles.
• Develop safety recommendations to prevent recurrence of safety events.
• Lead crew engagement activities, debriefings, and safety promotion sessions.
• Support Safety Risk Assessments (SRA) and Management of Change (MOC) by identifying operational hazards.

Required profile

• Commercial airline pilot with extensive knowledge of SOPs and Airbus aircraft systems.
• Strong understanding of ICAO Annex 19 Safety Management principles and GCAA CAR SMS / CAR AIR OPS requirements.
• Proficiency in Flight Data Monitoring (FDM/FOQA) concepts.
• Familiarity with Human Factors, Threat & Error Management, and operational risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent operational judgement and analytical ability.
