Foreman - Automotive Workshop

About the role

United Diesel, the authorized distributor of Renault Trucks, Tata Motor, buses and trucks and provider of after-sales services, is looking for a Foreman to supervise daily workshop activities. The role keeps productivity and service quality high, optimizes resources, meets and improves the workshop's budget and profitability, and takes responsibility for cost control and the financial results of the assigned targets.

Key responsibilities

• Help the Service Manager prepare annual and monthly targets (gross profit, labour revenue, vehicles serviced, CSI, productivity, efficiency, retention) and monitor their achievement
• Supervise daily workshop operations, efficiency, productivity and utilization, using customer feedback to identify improvements
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on key figures to management
• Ensure work instructions are followed so repairs meet manufacturer guidelines and turn around quickly
• Coordinate spare parts and consumables with the Parts department and vendors
• Handle escalated customer complaints and implement corrective actions
• Carry out recalls, warranty and general repairs according to manufacturer guidelines
• Hold regular team meetings, coach and motivate staff, provide technical support and tools, and update the MRQ to keep QMS documentation current
• Set individual objectives, manage performance and give formal and informal feedback and appraisals

Required profile

• Diploma in Automotive Technology; Bachelor's degree desirable
• 3 years of supervisory experience in an automotive workshop

Required skills

• Mechanical knowledge of machines, tools, their design, use, repair and maintenance
• Business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership and coordination
• Monitoring gauges and indicators, quality control testing and inspections, and health and safety awareness
