Forward Deployed Application ML Engineering Expert

About the role

Design, build, and operate AI‑native enterprise applications that integrate large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation and agentic AI directly within customer environments. You will translate ambiguous business requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable solutions, owning delivery from discovery through production hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate production‑grade, cloud‑native applications embedding AI capabilities such as LLMs, RAG and agent‑based workflows.
• Prototype, iterate and productionize solutions in customer environments, adapting reference architectures to enterprise constraints.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery including deployment, observability and production operations.
• Apply AI‑assisted engineering practices, evaluation frameworks and architectural guardrails to ensure trustworthy, compliant solutions.
• Act as technical interface to customers and internal stakeholders, communicating approaches, trade‑offs and progress.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience in cloud‑native, enterprise and SaaS application engineering.
• Proven ability to design and deliver AI‑native applications using large language models, RAG architectures, vector databases and agentic systems.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and design‑thinking skills with experience mentoring teams.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross‑functional and customer engagements.

Required skills

• Python and common AI/ML libraries/frameworks.
• Experience with large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, vector databases and agentic AI.
• Knowledge of cloud‑native architectures, scalability, security and reliability principles.
• Familiarity with MLOps practices and data pipelines.
• Exposure to SAP AI technologies (e.g., SAP AI Core, Vectorization, Joule Studio) is a strong advantage.
