Gastroenterology Specialist

About the role

The Royal Medical Centre Karama is seeking a qualified Gastroenterology Specialist to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with digestive tract diseases in our GI Clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients with gastrointestinal disorders in the GI Clinic.
• Perform upper and lower GI endoscopies, liver biopsies, ERCP, and oesophageal motility studies.
• Provide consultation and referral services to inpatient units within the specialist’s area of expertise.
• Offer after‑hours on‑call emergency coverage for GI emergencies.
• Supervise, train and educate endoscopy staff, nurses and technicians.
• Participate in quality‑assurance activities such as morbidity‑mortality conferences, peer review, audits and chart reviews.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an approved school, 1‑year rotating internship, 3‑year internal medicine residency and 3‑year gastroenterology fellowship.
• Current specialist license in country of origin and DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Minimum 2 years of post‑fellowship experience in gastroenterology.
• Excellent oral and written English; Arabic knowledge is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of medical ethics, confidentiality and adherence to organizational bylaws.
