General Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an accurate, detail‑oriented General Accountant to oversee day‑to‑day financial operations across our retail showrooms, commercial projects and e‑commerce channels in Al Ain. The role involves handling bookkeeping, inventory costing, VAT compliance and financial reporting for a fast‑growing sports equipment business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
• Reconcile daily POS transactions, online payment gateways, credit‑card settlements and bank statements.
• Process vendor payments, customs duties and import documentation.
• Execute monthly payroll in line with the UAE WPS.
• Calculate landed costs for imported gym equipment and perform regular stock reconciliations.
• Monitor inventory valuation, COGS, write‑offs and gross‑margin accuracy.
• Prepare and submit quarterly UAE VAT returns and maintain audit trails for corporate tax.
• Generate monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash‑flow projections and aging reports for management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; ACCA, CMA or CA Inter a plus.
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in the UAE, preferably in retail, trading or e‑commerce.
• Strong practical knowledge of UAE VAT legislation and corporate tax readiness.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP) and experience with ERP/accounting software such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks or Odoo.
• Proven experience in inventory costing and multi‑channel reconciliation.
• Immediate or short notice availability preferred.
