General Insurance Manager

About the role

The General Insurance Manager will lead the underwriting function for a leading insurance brokerage, overseeing multiple lines of business and ensuring high‑quality service for both corporate and individual clients.

Key responsibilities

• Review underwriting submissions, approve quotations and manage portfolios across Property, Liability, Engineering, Marine, Motor Fleet and SME lines.
• Lead, mentor and train underwriting teams, allocate workloads and enforce quality control of quotes, policies and documentation.
• Negotiate terms with insurers, support client meetings, renewals and handle escalations.
• Oversee policy issuance and ensure compliance with Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE) regulations.
• Analyse market trends, provide insights to the sales team and support business development initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in general insurance underwriting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role (4‑5 years brokerage experience preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or a related field.
• Strong technical knowledge of Property, Liability, Engineering, Marine, Motor Fleet and SME insurance lines.
• Professional certifications such as CII are an advantage.
