General Manager – Waste to Energy Plant

About the role

The General Manager will lead the Sharjah Waste to Energy Plant, a joint‑venture operation that converts around 300,000 tonnes of non‑recyclable waste each year into roughly 30 MW of clean electricity. Reporting to the shareholders of Veolia, BEEAH and Tadweer, the GM is responsible for overall plant performance, safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Direct day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of the waste‑to‑energy facility.
• Develop and execute strategic plans to optimise production, reliability and cost efficiency.
• Manage the plant’s budget, financial reporting and investment programmes.
• Ensure full compliance with local environmental, health and safety regulations.
• Lead, coach and evaluate a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians and support staff.
• Maintain strong relationships with government authorities, partners and community stakeholders.
• Monitor key performance indicators and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior management experience in operations and maintenance of large‑scale industrial facilities, preferably waste‑to‑energy or power generation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑million‑dollar budgets and deliver results within regulatory frameworks.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
