Head - English Primary

About the role

Aldar Academies is recruiting a Head of English (Primary) for Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi, a British curriculum school with Lower, Middle and Senior Schools, to start in January 2027. The postholder contributes to the school's vision and leads a team of teachers and teaching assistants, while also teaching the Primary English National Curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the whole-school vision and lead team and planning meetings; line manage teachers and teaching assistants against the UAE Professional Teacher Standards
• Take responsibility for the attainment and progress of a class, record pupil development using Learning Ladders and use assessment data to inform planning and interventions
• Teach all areas of the Primary English National Curriculum, plan and deliver lessons for the whole ability range, and mark and give feedback in line with the school's policy
• Share best practice, take part in school CPD and T&L initiatives, and use technology creatively in lessons
• Hold termly Pupil Progress meetings and give regular feedback to parents at conferences
• Follow the school's behaviour management policy and the TRACK Values, manage safeguarding concerns via CPOMS, and act as a positive role model

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the English National Curriculum
• Leadership experience desirable; experience in more than one international school desirable
• Supportive, approachable team player and good communicator
