Head of Inclusion

About the role

GEMS United Indian School is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Head of Inclusion to lead inclusive practices across the school. The role involves close collaboration with the SENDCo, teachers, and families to ensure that every student’s educational needs are met.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the SENDCo to implement and monitor individualised education plans (IEPs).
• Build strong relationships with students and their families, ensuring their needs are met.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of high performance.
• Support the whole teaching and learning policy to promote inclusive teaching.
• Provide opportunities for observation of colleagues and visits to other schools to share best practice.
• Collect and interpret specialist assessment data to inform practice.
• Monitor, alongside the pastoral leader, teachers’ sessions against students’ IEP targets.
• Incorporate critical thinking, problem‑solving, and inquiry‑based learning strategies into daily instruction.
• Create a supportive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that fosters independence, confidence, and curiosity.
• Establish and maintain clear classroom routines and high expectations for behaviour and academic work.
• Adhere to all school policies related to discipline, safeguarding, and student welfare.
• Build positive relationships with students and support their social‑emotional well‑being.
• Ensure the safety, welfare, and well‑being of students at all times.
• Uphold all GEMS policies, procedures, and the Code of Conduct.

Required profile

• A recognized and relevant qualification in Special Education.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience with strong subject knowledge.
• Effective communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding with a UK‑enhanced DBS or equivalent police check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital tools and educational technologies for instruction and assessment.
