Head of Investment & Revenue Diversification

About the role

The University of Sharjah seeks a senior leader to develop, implement and oversee its income diversification and investment strategy. The role is responsible for guiding the university’s investment portfolio, launching new revenue‑generating projects and ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission and risk policies.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the university’s overall income diversification and investment strategy, setting financial targets and identifying new revenue streams.
• Manage the performance of the entire investment portfolio, make final allocation decisions, and report results to senior leadership.
• Assist the Vice Chancellor in formulating investment policies, selecting external managers, and overseeing pension and non‑defined benefit fund investments.
• Identify, evaluate and launch new revenue‑generating projects and partnerships, overseeing feasibility studies and negotiations.
• Lead risk assessment and compliance activities to protect university assets and ensure adherence to regulations.
• Supervise and develop the investment team, handling recruitment, performance management and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree (MBA or MSc Finance) highly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA or equivalent are strongly desired.
• 12‑14 years of relevant experience in the UAE, preferably within higher‑education institutions.

Required skills

• Fluent oral and written communication in Arabic and English.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, Word and Teams.
• Expertise in managing diversified investment portfolios across asset classes.
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting and financial modelling capabilities.
• Comprehensive risk‑management and compliance knowledge.
• Budget development and detailed financial reporting.
• Understanding of financial regulations governing non‑profit and educational entities.
