Head of Year – Primary (Academic Year 2026/27)

About the role

The Head of Year – Primary will lead the primary department at Yasmina British Academy for the 2026/27 academic year. Reporting to senior school leadership, the role is responsible for driving high standards of teaching, learning and student progress across all year groups.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement department policies aligned with the school’s vision and the English National Curriculum.
• Monitor short, medium and long‑term plans, using data to identify under‑achieving students and create targeted support.
• Oversee curriculum coverage, continuity and progression, including provisions for SEN/POD, G&T and EAL learners.
• Evaluate teaching quality, set performance expectations and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage staff performance, resources and departmental budgets in line with school policies.
• Contribute to the school’s CAS programme and organise after‑school revision sessions for I/GCSE and IB DP courses.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum six years of teaching experience, preferably with the UK curriculum.
