Head of Year Primary – Start Jan 2027

About the role

The Head of Year Primary will lead the primary phase at Yasmina British Academy, an outstanding English‑curriculum school in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, the role starts in January 2027 and is central to delivering the school’s vision of excellence, respect, passion, collaboration and creativity.

Key responsibilities

• Shape and implement a high‑expectation vision for the primary phase, focusing on standards, teaching quality and pupil achievement.
• Lead curriculum development, assessment, inclusive education and pastoral care across the phase.
• Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve teaching and learning practices, integrating new pedagogy and research.
• Inspire and develop staff through the ethos “Everyone a Leader”, delivering CPD and supporting professional growth.
• Drive recruitment, contribute to the School Development Plan and support whole‑school strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with PGCE or equivalent (essential).
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, including at least 1 year in a middle‑leadership role with proven impact on standards.
• Demonstrated success in leading school initiatives that improve achievement.
• Experience working with parents, external agencies and students for whom English is not a first language.
• Clean enhanced DBS/police check.
