Health Safety and Environment Manager

About the role

Mott MacDonald, a global engineering, management and development consultancy, is hiring a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager for its buildings and infrastructure practice in Abu Dhabi. The manager drives a collaborative and positive HSEQ culture across the project, develops and improves processes and procedures, and coordinates HSE, quality and environmental activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor HSEQ procedures and policies, and run incident investigations and report outcomes
• Run a coaching and mentoring programme and deliver HSEQ training and orientation
• Plan and run internal and external audits, close out non-conformances and coordinate HSE minimum requirements with the group
• Carry out HSE risk assessments and environmental impact analyses for construction sites and offices
• Monitor environmental controls such as waste minimisation and drive sustainability initiatives
• Implement quality control procedures, audit the quality system, maintain inspection records and track contractor quality assurance
• Keep the project team updated on local legislation and changes

Required profile

• Degree or recognised international OSH diploma (e.g. NEBOSH) in engineering, environmental or safety; relevant health and safety qualification from a recognised body
• Experience in a similar role, with both office and site experience essential
• Fully conversant with SHEQ policies and standards
• Strong HSE practitioner, coach and mentor; leadership skills and ability to manage diverse teams
• Ability to prepare, write and present reports
• Experience in the Middle East is an advantage

• ISO 9001, OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14000
• Mott MacDonald BMS systems
