Health, Safety and Environment Officer - Airport Projects

About the role

This role oversees and ensures the effective implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures on airport project sites. It covers HSE inspections, audits, compliance monitoring with safety regulations and leading initiatives to improve safety performance.

Key responsibilities

• Safety management: develop, implement and monitor HSE policies and procedures; conduct regular safety inspections and audits on construction sites; investigate accidents and incidents and recommend corrective actions; ensure safety equipment and PPE are available and properly used.
• Regulatory compliance: stay up to date on local HSE regulations, prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities, and coordinate with them during inspections and audits.
• Training and development: develop and deliver HSE training programmes and workshops, and maintain records of training and certifications.
• Risk assessment: carry out risk assessments and review them regularly to ensure they remain effective.
• Emergency response: develop and implement emergency response plans, and coordinate emergency drills.
• Reporting and collaboration: keep accurate records of inspections, incidents and training, report safety performance to senior management, and work with project managers and engineers to embed HSE requirements in project planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering or a related field.
• NEBOSH-IGC, IOSH, NEBOSH Diploma or Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in the construction industry (airport project experience is an added value), including at least 2 years in a senior position.
