High School English Teacher (Start Jan 2027)

About the role

We are seeking an outstanding High School English Teacher to join GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi starting January 2027. The role involves inspiring students to develop a lifelong appreciation for English within an inquiry‑based, American‑IB curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry‑based English lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including English Language Learners and gifted students.
• Foster a positive, collaborative classroom culture that promotes curiosity and well‑being.
• Integrate technology and innovative approaches to enhance learning experiences.
• Assess student progress using authentic methods and provide timely feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues on unit planning and curriculum development.
• Participate in co‑curricular and community programmes to support holistic learning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/PGDE/state license or equivalent) in English.
• Proven experience teaching High School English, preferably within an American or IB curriculum.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students through purposeful learning.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, reflective approach.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and an inclusive school culture.
• Availability to start in January 2027.
