HVAC Mechanic

About the role

The HVAC Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment supporting a USAF contract at a military base in Abu Dhabi. Working under general direction, the role involves routine tasks on chillers, air handlers, ductwork, and related systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair high‑ and low‑pressure steam heating systems, including belt checks and filter changes.
• Install, service, and troubleshoot compressors, condensers, and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance on HVACR equipment following written or oral instructions.
• Manage refrigerant usage, storage, and disposal in compliance with Clean Air Act and local environmental regulations.
• Inspect and maintain HVAC systems according to ANSI/ASHRAE standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of related experience.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain facility credentials/authorization.
• Minimum five years of HVAC experience or prior military service in an HVAC AFSC/MOS.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to operate government vehicles.

Required skills

• North American Technician Excellence (NATE) or equivalent HVAC certification.
• EPA Universal CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate.
• Copper brazing qualification.
• Forklift Class III (410 kg) and skid‑steer loader operation certification.
• Knowledge of refrigerant management programs and ANSI/ASHRAE standards.
